It's 2024, we've all (for the most part) got frighteningly fast computers, Firefox and Thunderbird are ten minute no-big-deal builds on Gentoo, and the new most obnoxious program that takes forever to compile yourself is... nodejs.

JavaScript why. Stop. Get some help.

i think the point of comparison for nodejs is not a browser, but llvm.

You're probably right. LLVM doesn't feel as obnoxious for some reason...

nodejs is weird because almost no common language compiles its own runtime outside of dev evnironments.
