Lapis the Nevrean

is like being at the end of a beach party
there were tons of people hours before
but now it's past 2 am
everyone's left but you, maybe a dozen or so friends,
at least, that you can see from the campfire

a little stereo plays old songs
low, distorted, is the speaker going?
is this a tape and it's stretching
warped ever so slightly
as it warbles, low, half remembered things

all's slowly winding down,
people are getting ready to head home, and yet
something seems missing,
"did anyone bring fireworks?"

you won't be back to this beach again,
not for ages,
if ever

might as well make some noise and light
one,
last,
time...
