The problem with websites is if you start looking at making one, you see too many suggestions. If you've decided you want one, here's the strategy.

Look for a way to make one. Found one? Good. First thing you find, go with it. Go as far as you can until you decide you hate it. If you don't hate it: boom, website. If you do, then find the second thing.

I've seen enough now that I can say with some confidence that this is the best way forward. The only Bad Option is the one you can't afford. And there's lots of free ways to do it. You won't really know what you do and don't like until you get stuck in.

Actually there's lots of bad options but I'm willing to accept them existing if it gets people making websites. I may judge them from afar, but I'll still subscribe to your RSS feed and read your posts.

I think I wanna try to roll my own again, honestly. It doesn't need to be good, just functional and does what I want it to. If I put in a concerted effort, it shouldn't take very long to have something I can post to and people can follow.
