Every day I go out to get lunch and have to walk by no less than 7 utterly incoherent posters about how great it is being some sort of animal, there's a dragon shoving fliers into people's hands, a yinglet that I'm pretty sure lives in a local dumpster is throwing rocks at everyone.

Multi-mode transceivers require multi-mode cables to function, which come in a handful of colors. Aqua and violet correspond to the OM3 and OM4 specs which are commonly in use today.
Single-mode transceivers require single-mode cables to function. Single-mode cables are always yellow, unless they're shielded for outdoor use, then they're black.
The two kinds of gear look very similar but are NOT compatible with each other and mixing them up will probably not work at all.
