very very moving work in the UK tonight. people out in the streets in the thousands, completely fucking over planned fash riots. seen videos of like 1 nazi surrounded on all sides, screenshots of the alt right telegram chats "lads be careful we are outnumbered"
seeing this and learning more about bangladesh . Very encouraging.
in all cases, not a complete victory. Incredible things accomplished but work isnt finished. The underlying imbalances remain. In UK, this is already apparent: 5years in prison for climate activists planning a possible nonviolent disruption, vs 2months in prison for one of the nazi rioters. the systems enabling this shit remain in place. Mainstream praising the police for work they didnt do.
but fuck if it aint good to see proof! We keep us safe.
The oppressive systems here are international, folks like Trump and Biden and Elon Musk and Netanyahu and Hasina and Modi and Zuckerberg and Starmer and Farage and John Hagee and (others), they all share their money and resources and the lives of the people they oppress,
but they are few and we are many, and promises of a better life they use to sway people to their side are hollow.
Keep the momentum,
The trauma and pain and loss of life seen in the UK cannot be undone, and must not be allowed to happen again, and the horrors that continue -- like the funding of Israel's genocide against Palestinians -- must be stopped.
