That's spot on too. It's also still in the 80s parents primary toolkit too, you show em Star Wars and then it's a quick hop-jump to go well I gotta show them mel brooks and then monty python now too

They still exist but audience fragmentation means that the kid that was for sure gonna make it a whole thing is now equally likely to be into anime or french comics or hyperpop music or minecraft modding or whatever other thing is just way more accessible to a person these days.
