i would pay a lot for DLC that just made the interactions with your three friends in pokemon scarlet/violet not abruptly cut off as soon as their postgame dialogue finishes when they seemed like they were going to be important

the more i watch other people play it the more i want to reach through the screen and be nemona and the others' friend like they all so desperately need for different reasons and not farm them for money as they're frozen in time somewhere i'm not even allowed to take profile pictures with them anymore

also why is there never a tera raid battle with the four of you it seemed like the whole game was leading up to that

when i was playing animal crossing i felt like the game was missing something and should be attached to a more aggressively gamey game like pokemon so your town and character would be a backdrop to do that against and show off to opponents - apparently the reverse is also true and i want daily dialogue with npcs in my pokemon game lmao

Like, on the one hand, I get that Pokemon as a series only ever extends it's narratives so far - after a certain point it's just a vehicle to play with other humans (which is what raid battles are supposed to be). But those get optimized and are more often than not soloable with the right setup. So then you're back to having a single player experience with your team of level 100 EV trained beaters and there's nothing to do nothing to explore, no further hills left to climb.

And like yeah the PvP ladder and tournaments exist and are great and I love them - and honestly building and training a team is fun! - but also they're the only things I have to do in-game other than grind raids, which I'm mostly only doing because I need the 50 Tera shards for each mon on my team.

I can see a few easy wins that could be expanded upon (in the easy-for-game-dev context)

I wish the multiplayer exploration mode had any reason to exist other than evolving a few specific mons. Like yeah you in theory can catch version exclusive stuff but honestly it's just faster to trade, and when you're in the post-post game there's nothing to do in the world. I hope the new dlc expands on the dynamic adventures from SwSh but I'm fully expecting it to just be the same thing rather than an ingame explorable space that houses the fights.

Actually that ties into my second thing which is... I wish there was more to do in this open(ish) world game other than hit Tera dens or shiny hunt. Character moments, like you mention, would be neat - yes, the tournament exists as a showcase for the characters but that's like. It. The game needs to let me have a picnic where Arven helps me make a sandwich, damnit.

And finally, I wish they had expanded on the whole school system. Like you can go and take classes and befriend your teachers in a whole dating sim-esqe system and all it gets you is like.... Some Tera shards, a TM, and the location of the legendaries.

It feels like a system that was supposed to be WAY more integrated into the game.... And now that I say it, it kinda reminds me of how the wild area in SwSh felt - there was an idea there but it was only kinda implemented and felt like the devs didn't give it enough time for whatever reason. Frankly, the school should be like a home base for the post-game, since the main story was just supposed to be the one semester. Like imagine getting little quests to find like, idk, 10 Pokemon or 3 of a given item and getting like 5-10 Tera shards from the teachers and your friends and it's just a little bit of dialog where they're grateful. Something to tie the grind back to the characters

Idk this is a lot of rambling but the tldr is I agree with you and there's some VERY obvious places where the game could have added some small things.
