I've decided that one of the things I'm going to use this account for is to talk about things I really like that I think other people would like, at a length I would usually reserve for rambling over DM. You'll have to forgive the imgur links until cohost lets you embed images mid post.
It does my heart good to see people getting excited over this silly little game (I wrote the code for ProcGen Waterfall Cave - it's 100% my baby; a close friend was the one to find the one byte change needed to get rid of the overworld flashing).
One of my favorite things about the game is the sheer span of ways to play the game and how you can build flags around a play style you want to evoke - everything from super-tight zero loose item racing flags to max scaling grind and slog uphill battles with no gear, to a wide goose chase across randomized dungeons for the keys to finding the friends.
The only thing I'd mention for any new players looking to get into it is to try not to worry to much about the sheer breadth of flags or tuning very precise values for enemy scaling if you're rolling your own flags - start with a standard set of flags and experiment as your comfort allows, and just let Vibes carry you on the scaling.
