the trouble with the "cutting off mid-word" gag is that sometimes the last word is something that could be read as an abbreviation no matter where you cut it, which makes it look less like a gag and more like you're a teen trying to make new shorthand happen. this is why i've submitted a unicode proposal for a new combining character that cuts the following glyph cleanly in ha
