troublesome fox girl

hello i like to make video games and stuff and also have a good time on the computer. look @ my pinned for some of the video games and things. sometimes i am horny on @squishfox

ive spent my whole life confused by star trek about how you could possibly slingshot around a star to get more speed. like i remember being like 12 and thinking "wouldn't you just accelerate a bit going in in freefall and then decelerate the same amount coming out"

and i finally read the wikipedia article and i am VINDICATED because that's not how it fucking works at all, the whole idea is to slingshot off of a planet so you pick up the speed of its orbit

well i am now because im in the gravity system of our solar system but if i was coming from outside that gravity system, entering it temporarily, and then leaving thats the same as coming into the gravity system of a planet, entering it temporarily and then leaving (using "gravity system" here to refer to "when the effect of the gravity has enough of an impact to actually matter" idk what physicists call it)

so like i couldnt slingshot around our star because im already being pulled along by it, the same way i couldnt really slingshot around the earth. but if i left our solar system and went by some other star conceivably i could slingshot around that towards some third galactic point
