remember when a bunch of people were freaking out that itch was on the verge of banning all adult games and got mad at me for saying probably that wasn't happening and then it didn't happen

remember when a bunch of people were freaking out that itch was on the verge of banning all adult games and got mad at me for saying probably that wasn't happening and then it didn't happen
honestly I don't remember, but I think that just highlights how much it didn't happen
I do not remember this but it surprises me that anyone thought this might happen? the driving forces behind that are usually... (checks) oh okay there is an android app. but come on, it's itch.io, their entire mandate is existing outside the corporate walls.
i dont remember the details (fuzzy memory before 2022) but im very happy you were correct!
oh. well. turns out my whole memory is dryer filter then. i should probably get that checked.
ADDENDUM @ 10:04: i think that mightve come off as sarcastic and i mean it sincere. forget stuff outside of my immediate surroundings a lot. I am very glad though that eevee was right and the stuff didnt get taken down.
Even without the addendum that didn't come across as sarcastic to me, and I mean, I have the same problem.
To be fair. You can't trust large corporations like itch that possibly have upwards of 20% more headcount than cohost
true, everything itch's board (leafo) says is filtered through itch's pr department (also leafo)
I have long suspected that itch is exactly one person
Im just surprised and glad they haven't lost the domain given the io domain rules
Wait, did that have something to do with Apple? I may be going senile tho.
As best as anyone was able to figure out due to the limited public information, it was most likely due to the payment processors getting grumpy at a handful of folks abusing itch.io in ways that generated a lot of chargebacks, some of which happened to involve adult content (but it wasn't the adult content itself that was the issue).
