nobody generates doom maps with the inside colored because it's hard. but i did it first try thanks to the power of the 2D cross product

problem was that in doom, a vertex is a Kind Of Thing (but not a Thing, that's different), and i was using vertex identity to trace sectors, but some old map editors could produce duplicate vertices in the same position and that fucked things up. using coordinates fixed it and everything seems fine. even donut sectors or multi-part sectors should draw fine

i would show what they actually look like in a browser atm but trying to post two screenshots at once breaks cohost

that's a... very good question. my immediate guess is that it has a vertex somewhere out in the upper left that's not actually used (which can happen in some editors if you draw a line and then delete it), but i blindly iterate over vertices to get the map bounds so i'm still counting it

if you're having the same pasting trouble as me, you should be able to save the post to drafts directly after pasting it in to upload and lock the picture. not ideal, for sure, but it works ok
found that out while trying to copy and paste alt text
