see the thing is
you can't propose a trade with someone whose art is better than yours because that's like just getting free art
and you can't propose a trade with someone whose art is less good than yours because they might feel bad
you have to find someone who is, objectively, exactly as good
As someone whose artistic talent is roughly on par with a printer that someone randomly swapped the ink cartridges around, this is why my side of the art trade is usually money
that's hard bc i'm very judgmental but i try not to do it to other people so much because that's rude so i mostly do it to myself
thing is though, quality is subjective. so like, how tf are you supposed to figure it out
and then some people might have a harder time drawing bad art then someone who draws good art
and oh god economics really is the bastard grandchild of ethics
summoning the high council of mediators to weigh and rank the merits of all art before a trade can commence
