So here's what I've been working on lately. Our journalists at the Asheville Blade co-op, with the help of community members, have now reviewed all 12+ hours of APD body cam footage from the infamous 2021 christmas raid on Aston Park.
What they show is damning: blatant bigotry, casual cruelty and an open attack on the rights of journalists, mutual aid workers and protesters.
What the cameras showed is our in-depth investigation into this footage and how it breaks through the police propaganda to show the harsh reality of who the cops here actually are.
