Santigold announced today that she's cancelling her tour and talked a bit about the current pressure that's on musicians who rely on tour income. Every industry is broken in many ways but it's impossible to get across just how much covid hit musicians large and small, when they're already getting hit by the biz eating up most of their music profits.
I love that she says "both sad and proud". It's really nice to see a bigger musician putting their foot down and being honest when most artists seems to be rushing back on tour in "this is fine" mode and increasing the pressure for everyone else to do so. I hope there will be more. "I simply don't have it". That's fuckin relatable. This is a good read.
