When I was like 17 I think I got a performance permit to do portraits at the Promenade outdoor mall in Santa Monica. I worked in oils and it was a TERRIBLE idea because of the drying time, but I did fill time getting some of the local street dwellers to model (for money, when they needed it, in this case). Generally to be successful at this you have to produce like. Clean, dry finished products (no) quickly (yes), and have a bunch of demos of celebrities (no) to show you can get a likeness (yes), which I refuse to do.
