I made a lot of classic first Kickstarter mistakes with Teleportraiture. The main one was letting people model for portraits for only $50 without buying the portrait. Which gave me a nice long series but that barely covered materials much less actually paying for my time, and wasn't really enough for subjects to commit time the way they needed to. I did get a surprising number of strangers signing up for the experience, the kind who just backed tons of Kickstarters because it was new in 2011, so, STEM elites. Adrian was the only person of color, I think.

Amanda, Allison, Lauren, Casey. some combination of panel and canvas glued to it iirc, and all under 8x10.
Even though this idea had been stewing since 2009 and I'd done the self portrait, it's actually pretty amazing how quickly I pulled together a Kickstarter to start this videochat session portrait series. These were the test portraits I did with friends (and a boyfriend, for that last one, whose in-person portrait I left on a train).
I don't really talk to any of these people any more.
