honestly i wish i had more advice to share! the eggbug mech is definitely the most finished mecha drawing I've ever done, and it really kicked my ass. lmao
I'll do the the obligatory mention of things that always help, as annoying as it is to confirm, like doing figure study gesture drawings or studies of simple 3d forms (sometimes i'll just go on sketchfab.com and search for like "cube" or "cylinder" and just fill a page with quick sketches of the form from different angles).
Aside from that: when I was working on eggbug mech, I was also pretty regularly just going to the gundam wiki and sketching suits I thought were cool, paying particularly attention to the shapes composing limbs etc. so I could try to internalize the design language a little. Most of the suits have a link to an image gallery for that mech somewhere on the page to grab more references. I'm definitely intending to do more of that.
Otherwise, it involved a lot of staring at the shapes I was trying to decide whether the perspective even barely made sense, and trying to be comfortable with going "eh, good enough to move forward" (which is my constant creative struggle, generally).
