the 80's Golgo 13 OVA isn't anything special (minus the CGI helicopter scene) BUT they wanted to do a james bond type opening credits and did it better than anybody else ever has. It's a fantastic mix of extremely early CGI, and stop motion animation. It also helps that the main theme of the movie is an incredible 80's rock song with that old anime soundtrack sound that nobody can quite get right.

It's a very specific combination of things seemingly designed to make my brain light up like a neon sign and you should watch it.

Also, don't be fooled by the thumbnail there is no hotted woman in the video

it's the best example i can think of thats not tron of cgi before they could print digital images onto film where they'd have the system render a frame on a monitor and then capture a frame on an animation camera pointed at the screen. In various cg shots both here and in the helicopter scene you can see the edge of the monitor at the bottom or side
