i make new software work on old computers, mod quake and quake 2, and sometimes make beepy music as "ersatz waterfall", among other things.

if anyone has any information about the 1999 release of Puzzle Bobble - under that branding, not the Bust-A-Move branding - in the USA, i'd be really interested. it seems it was available both alone, and as a compilation set with Puzzle Bobble 2 on a second disk.

i've been doing some research on it but it seems like it's flown mostly under the radar, with all the information i can find suggesting that there was never a "Puzzle Bobble" release in the US at all much less mentioning this 1999 release that definitely happened, and i can't find any complete dumps of the game online, even though the physical discs seem very easy to find.

i'm really interested in this especially because i have childhood memories of this specific release of the game. my best guess as to where we got it is maybe a bargain bin in a computer store in (Norman?) Oklahoma in late 2000 (i was age 5), where my family and I were attending a LAN party. we picked up "Frogger 2" at this time, and i specifically remember that, but i'm not confident this is where we got Puzzle Bobble. i'm also not entirely convinced this wasn't some black market pirate release.

i feel like i actually had this at one point, but it might've been a compilation of 2 and 3 or 3 and 4 or something?

it was the same era in which a bargain-bin wolfenstein + spear of destiny cd was also on sale, i remember getting both for dirt cheap
