Presumably cut from the game due to Atari's mismanagement of everything they were doing circa 2003, Enter the Matrix had a barebones versus fighter mode built in, unlocked by beating the hacking minigame.
No fighter select. The mode consisted entirely of preset levels and matchups between random character models from the game. But the eighth and final matchup featured Firebird Man vs Police Car man-- two car models from the singleplayer levels with their body panels contorted and re-arranged to give them a humanoid shape.
Firebird Man even has angry eyebrows. It's great.
