There have been 24 installments in the Madden franchise thus far, Do you not think that that makes for a high barrier to entry for game users who have never played any of the games in the series before?

I don’t know why there is so much poo-pooing on this investor question in the comments. They are absolutely right that the naming conventions scare away prospective players that don’t have a current fan to guide them in.

BG3 is the biggest thing in the industry right now, it feels like, and it also has people saying “I dunno, I haven’t played the first two. Should I play it?” The marketing matters, especially for a series that has spanned generations like Final Fantasy has.

(Yes please, more movies)

I mean the fact that the CEO literally ignored that part of the question and simply said "yes we will continue to leverage our IP in multiple spaces" [unsaid: as they literally always have, going back to Spirits Within and Advent Children] says a lot. Final Fantasy has been a household name for over 30 years. If someone doesn't know by now that the series doesn't have a contiguous plot or setting, it's trivially easy to find out. This is truly the least of their concerns.
