Hackers is a film I've really come around on in a radical way, not because the film particularly clicks with me, but because it operates as a ray of hope for so many people i love. When i first watched Hackers i felt very 6/10 on it. But as i got older and started to understand myself better i met people who are more beautiful and full of so much more love than i ever realized existed in the world. At first all i saw was that they loved it. But then i saw what they saw: i saw themselves in it.
The movie is so absurdly cool in only the way a movie called "hackers" could be, brimming with screwball delinquents with more conviction than most adults i know. It's like watching where we all wish we came from. Us messy freaks touching too many computers, there's something of us in there, something radiant, something queer, something stupid, and i hope to God we never grow out of it.
