"etudes australes" is a composition by john cage, written as a series of 32 pieces to be performed as duets for each of one player's hands. the difficulty of the performance is equally as perplexing as its source material - cage utilised indeterminate methods to mark notes with star charts as the basis for the placement of notes
violetta is and has been since her inception both intrinsically involved in her studies and capabilities as an astrologian, as well as her gift for challenging musical compositions and performances springing from her early interest in barding. among countless other techniques, she often employs the heavens as a physical realm and the metaphysical tellings of card readings as part of her composition process
encountering her in rp, there will be plenty of references to the rich history of avant-garde music, including an ongoing plotline where she is frequently searching for new star charts to pen "musica universalis". much to her delight, there always appears to be more stars to compose through, and she finds joy in knowing she may return to the lifestream before completing her magnum opus
"etudes australes" is, like cage's work, just one part of the larger body of star chart oriented compositions. a select microcosm of an impossible task. a fleeting glimpse into the chorus of the heavens, unknowable in all of its splendour yet awe-inspiring in magnitude and complexity
