me: recieves birthday money from my mom via venmo
me: calls mom like an hour later and thanks her for the gift
me: ready to start chatting so how are things?
mom: well, i turned off the radio to a tie game in the bottom of the 9th. can i call you back?
me: haha, yeah for sure! turn yr game back on. bye!
[end call]
idk i just feel like everything i know from my friends that come from really wasp-y passive aggressive families, no one ever says when they are annoyed until they explode. so like, if they had been listening to a live sports broadcast when their kid calls they would just quietly seethe and make small talk instead of like, asking to call them back. and the reverse, if they did ask to call their kid back so they could hear the end of the game it would be fucking devastating, bc honest preferences are only actually expressed after resentment has built up to an explosive point, or when snubbing someone to show them how deeply unimportant you find them.
sorry to read yall for filth but some of your parents need to go to therapy and it shows
