Codsworth is a minor character with an annoying speech gimmick (fake posh British accent and robot filter) in Fallout 4. This list and also all of this shows how much dialogue and context had to be written and recorded for just this one character.
I am in awe of video game writers and voice actors because that is... that is so many permutations on "oh my sir, we seem to have encountered [LOCATION_new] and I'm just frightfully [MOOD_current] about it!" And every line for every situation has to be unique and in some way a clever reference to the fact that this character is Robot Jeeves. And then some human being has to go sit in a booth and say all this with appropriate emotion and in the goddamn Jeeves accent, which must have been a multi-week task in itself. And this is one of seventeen companions you can have.
Just... games are big, man
i dont care how many km your world map is or how many hours of gameplay it has. Games only become "big" if every little guy who you hang out with has a piece of specific dialogue commentary for every absurdly niche thing a player could think of doing
