for the past few weeks i've been on cohost i don't think i've seen anyone here being openly hostile towards anyone else. no "shut ups" in the comments. no "you don't know shit about what you're talking about". "your thing sucks". just people being nice and supportive. it's so amazing

I was there for the Terms of Service Wars, so I've seen conflict here. I've seen the scars. The posts that were deleted by admins, and the gaps in the conversation that resulted. I've got accounts I have blocked.
It's fucking NOTHING compared to every day on the bird website, or the shipping wars of tumblr.
i wonder how much of it has to do with the age of the userbase. from what ive seen, the amount of people younger than their early/mid 20s on here is a smaller minority compared to other social medias, and i kind of assume that every eagerly hostile and contrarian reply i see on social media is written by a teenager. like you said though, my experience might be non-representative of the site because of the people im willing to follow
