shrouded in mist
as i write this, there's still about 3 hours of travel left between the rest of the ferry ride and the final final stretch of driving, so i'm not quite finished yet. i am, however, very tired and will likely be even more so when i finally get home, so i'm doing this now.
pretty exhausting day today. nothing went wrong or anything, we just had a lot of long and tricky road to navigate. the third picture in particular is near the end of a couple hours of narrow, winding, and steep mountain roads that were certainly engaging to drive on (especially with a stick-shift), but quite stressful as well, especially once the fog hit. i was very glad to let my wife take over afterwards (she took that photo, as well as the first one) while i rested in the passenger seat for a while.
a neat thing about today is that it's the first time on this trip that our route was almost entirely new to us - even though i've not driven any of the other roads before, i've been down them all at least once, if not several times, and so has my wife. this was a much-less-direct and less-used highway that connected where we began and where we're going, so we chose to take it on the merit of getting to See More Things. and see more things we did! as nice as the rest of the scenery has been, it's very cool to be seeing places that you know you've never seen in your life, especially when you don't really know what to expect.
the ferry is docking soon so i'd better finish up. probably gonna post some miscellaneous photos and thoughts and stuff in the next little while, but for now i just want to get home and sleep for 100 years (or, y'know, 7 hours, same thing really)
