Figuring out what play:
I pulled the group I was playing Heart/misc. with together for if they wanted a more traditional short campaign kinda game. We went over a whole talk, what we might want to do, type of games interested in and not, etc.
I pushed for a couple of my 'concrete' ideas like I know what a Beam Saber game, Astir, or Ascendency might look like with a rough pitch of each. Plus there were a few like Copperhead, Blades, or FIST that I had a lot of interest in but no specific launch point.
I told them the ones I have ideas for would be a little more serious, and intense if they were interested in that. While they were, we decided to jump into something a little more random and less 'intense subject matter' to try and get everyone used to my style and playing these types of games together.
I like where we ended up, I can still lean into horror and crime drama and they can play a little more wildly in any direction. Not to say this might not end up 'intense, etc' but I'm not gonna push really hard unless they do the same?
First Session Coming Up:
I'm starting the first session by giving each player a small note/letter written by each of their Strange Friends. We jumped mid-way into a score going wrong (I skipped the normal Starting Scenario) and left it on a cliffhanger at the end of our creation session. Each letter includes some details of assistance and a roll/question asked of each Crew member to put together the rest of the backend of the score. Like filling in warnings given by a psychonaut and items given as assistance from a gang leader.
I'm excited and curious. I've played a ton of Forged, but never Blades.
(Crew, game, etc details below)
And so we have the Hawkers, Blessings of FairTrade:
- Sellers of paranormal drugs and strange concoctions (In a Doskval with limited traditional drugs)
- Based out of an old casino-style river boat called, The Vatican.
- Crewed by:
- Sultan Kier, our Slide
- Reya, our Whisper
- Johnny Boy, our Leech
- Brocko, our second Whisper
They peddle to the wealthy as much as they can, eeking out deals to gain a small sway near Whitecrown. While the territory is rough, former ties and silver tongues have bought them some breathing room.
