Every new AAAA game I play feels like this, a weird air of finality to it like... This COULD be the last good one, before there are never any good ones, so you better savour it! SEGA very specifically looking like it's one Super Game Flop or Union Busting Its Localisation Team To Japan away, from shitting the bed in the most spectacular way.
Not GAMES mind you, there's always gonna be good games. Just found out about NESmaker? That is fucking wild man! We'll never not have good games despite how much games themselves will try to not make it so. People even if fueled by sheer willpower and spite, will make the compooper. I mean more like, good games with Me Scrimbs Trademark Dot Org? In my lifetime? I mean... Yeah probably!
I know it'll seem weird to some of you lot on here, but there is a genuine joy for me to be invested, not so much with a megacorp, but a catalogue of works and study their progression and stylistic similarities. I was such a FERAL fan of Capcom in the PS2 era like that! And it'll be a shame when no one is putting out stuff that matters anymore and that comes to an end. Indies just don't command that kind of catalogue investment like. You can cosplay that kind of thing with pubs like Devolver if you just squint and blur your vision on purpose. But... It's not really the same is it?
