that's right, this isn't an old photo, and so i guess this isn't technically a "back"log entry! i finished this kit about half an hour ago. storytime: i once made a half-joking vow that i would never get a UC kit of any kind because i was never going to watch UC. then i realized i'd already built the fake nu gundam, which is just a build divers redesign of the real nu gundam. i was betraying my vow before i had even truly made it!! and since i have always adored the qubeley from afar, when my local gunpla store had a buy-two-high-grades-get-a-third-half-off deal and i couldn't find anything else i wanted, i figured eh, fuck it, let's build the evil butterfly knight.
this kit is from 2015 and it is pretty damn solid. responsible use of polycaps, nice color separation (the only stickers are the eyes and those little pink dots on the...wings? pauldrons?), and mostly sturdy construction. my one complaint: the joint connecting the neck to the torso is unfortunately pretty loose, so it has some trouble keeping that big long weevil snoot from tipping all the way forward or all the way back during posing.
as a sidenote, i also caved and finally bought myself a gunprimer raser glass file a little while ago, and this was the first kit i got to use it on. i regret to inform you that it is 100% worth that exorbitant price. i've used both sandpaper files and cheaper glass files for years now and neither of them even REMOTELY compare to the raser. cleanest, easiest sanding job i've ever done in my life. i know. i'm devastated, too.
