now that's what i call a Phantom Gundam.
for once...well, i'd love to say i'm at a loss for words, but i am, above most but not all else, an indefatigable chatterbox. so here's a whole lot of words!
this one was a strange, bittersweet build. i managed to snag this p-bandai exclusive (supposedly from something in UC, though i have no idea what specific series) off mercari after The News About Cohost had already come in, i knew i'd want to repaint quite a bit of it to achieve this palette before i even started building it, and so for the first time in a long time, i had an actual honest-to-god deadline for something.
as a permanently unemployed 1.5x college dropout (it's a long story), let me tell you this: i do not like having actual honest-to-god deadlines for anything.
still, i got it done. candy lime green spray on the fire, nato black on the armor, and silver leaf on the accents. little bit of white primer on the hands to give them that ghostly shade. ex metallic green gundam marker on all the sticker details. and...that was it. thanks to all the painted pieces, the build itself was done in a flash. i honestly barely even remember it.
as for what's next...i don't really know. as i've mentioned before, i'm trying out pillowfort, but its text editor is dramatically worse at uploading batches of images than cohost ever was, not to mention severely limited in its filesize maximums (and that's not even getting into the fact that it seems like pillowfort has, at best, about 10 active users total). my tumblr's the other option for posting new gunpla photos, but...i don't know. frankly, i worry no one's gonna give a shit. maybe i'll get over that feeling and continue the Log there anyway, maybe i won't. we'll have to see.
cohost, more than anywhere i've been on the internet, felt like the perfect place for exactly this type of project. i know i'm not the only one who thought so—just look at how many posts there are in the #gunpla tag!—and i hope that me and everyone else here can find a place even half as good to show off all the cool toys we've built.
if there's anything real to be taken from all of these melancholy words, it's this: keep building. keep building, keep painting, keep panel-lining and sticker-sticking and decal-watering and customizing—keep creating! be proud of the work you've done and the work of others! stay true to your passions, and as gundam build fighters sings to gunpla builders everywhere: everything's gonna be alright.
