P30 is a wildly contrasty film. I think I like it but it's almost heavy handed about it. The raw histogram in the editor wasn't even reaching the halfway mark on most of the shots. It's just chemically narrow. Info I've seen online does say it wants flat light, but it wants really flat light. If there's any shadow naturally in the image, it'll be jet black. I bet this stuff is amazing as movie film.
But even through the base, just off the scanner, it hits so hard. I usually have to ask and tweak and work for black like this. And I'm really proud of the composition on this, too. I think those specks are from development, because that car was perfectly clean.
