WHISTLESTONE is the story of several CUSTODIANS working for ROCKWELL CUSTODIAL SECURITY, a Utah-based espionage, tomb raiding, and private military outfit that operates under the guise of hiring out basic labor for cheap to projects all over the world.
In 2012, an unassuming Bronze Age clay sculpture began making eerie sounds while on display in the Smithsonian. After covertly spiriting the artifact away, the RCS shifted its operations toward unraveling the mystery of the music coming from it, and what the bizarre, ancient broadcast could mean.
In the intervening decade, the Custodians have been deployed all over the world to recover any and all treasures related to this strange phenomenon.
The brave Custodians of the RCS are all creatures of the previous several decades to varying degrees, and all of them treat the job very differently. Some live out juvenile fantasies, some are trying to crack Earth's most ancient secrets, some are trying to secure a good retirement, and so on.
But when the company strikes on a clue that could change the course of history, their lives, habits, and ideas about why we're here will all be bound together. And if they can learn to work together, they might just find themselves in a world they've always wanted to live in.
