imo things like 'i'm just a hater' entering the sphere of social media colloquialism was the best thing to happen on the internet in the past few years, because it marked a divide between the two types of people who would use it. Are you self-aware that your opinions are petty and taking care to make sure you and others don't take your posts too seriously, or are you gleefully partaking in toxic behavior because an internet phrase made being mean and wallowing in your own rage sound quirky? The former type of person is helpful as someone who is generally anxious about antagonism and often can't read the room. The latter person's a lot easier to avoid now that they'll just come out and say 'I am a tarpit.'
