There’s a place in Iceland, Þingvellir, where you can walk up or down the cliff that’s the edge of the North American tectonic plate.
By pleasing coincidence, this place is also where the medieval Icelanders decided to hold their parliaments.
Not sure this is a science fact so much as a cool way you can experience big continental science on a tangible, human scale, should you ever visit Iceland (which I recommend).
