i think i just came up with a mostly-justifiable lore explanation for why my wargame army for an upcoming narrative campaign is canonically like 70% transhuman furries

see transhuman furries (Chimeras) in the setting (Infinity) are mostly associated with the "spacer countercultures" faction, the Nomads, but i was thinking like, oh yeah no if the tech exists it totally is spreading across human space

i play a subfaction of PanO, the big high tech space superpower, so i was thinking: what if like, a few years ago, a court struck down a uniform code restriction on "distracting augumentations" on the basis of "sorry but if you can't reverse the augs and if it doesnt affect their ability to serve it's just discrimination", the crabby old conservatives in the brass hated this, and funneled all the resulting chimera etc recruits into underequipped and underfunded units - and my army is one of those, a gaggle of furries and cyborgs etc who are desperate to prove themselves in the field
