got to the actual kingdom part of kingmaker, my players have formed their oligarchic cabal and appointed themselves and some of their allies to the government positions, and now I get to make them do economics
amusingly one of the things players can do is try to embezzle gold from the treasury and really fuck up the economy
oh yeah, and they appointed the teleporting sword wizard NPC who always has at least 3 swords with her as the kingdom's treasurer
You gotta encourage them to base the entire economy on resource extraction of a single thing, then have the bottom fall out on the prices of that thing
Exactly! That Seretse Khama guy didn’t know what he was talking about, “using the nation’s mineral wealth to support it’s growth into a prosperous, healthy place”. Pffft. Everyone knows you gotta use a small bit of that money to pacify the populace while using the country like a piggy bank to fund you and your allies’ lavish lifestyles.
