Today's a yearning kind of day. I'm really craving the embrace of wings, the feeling of a scaled snout nuzzling my cheek, the presence of other dragons... a flock, a gathering, of my kin.

Maybe the strongest regular recurring mental images I have these days is of being welcomed and embraced by other dragons, experiencing a feeling of belonging and kinship. I guess I've just been feeling... isolated, recently. Unaccepted.

in reply to @lorenziniforce's post:

I feel very much the same way, and have for a while -- ever since really finding myself here on Cohost and mentally breaking away from the irony-poisoned mindset so common on the modern internet.

I wrote this on a particularly low day, in the tags of a rechost of another user's (absolutely incredible) story that made me really realize what I'm missing, and have been missing for years now.

Don't worry, it's not a downer -- quite the opposite, actually. A sort of ode to what will come our way soon.

I long and I long and it will come my way someday
Sing a song about life1
Tell a tale of love and heart and newness
Dream of a world where I live and love with friends
that meow and bark and purr and growl
and I open my eyes and they are all around me with a shine in their own
Listening to my stories and loving my visions
I smile
take a seat
And take my place in the audience so others might feel what I did

Much love. Hope you find your people, as I might find mine.
(Though, you're definitely already on my list of people I would love to be friends with. What is it with Cohost and having so many lovely, incredible, creative people?)

  1. This is from Vylet Pony's song ANTONYMPH, which embodies everything I love about what I am and what the people I follow on Cohost are. Please, please listen to it if you haven't already, it gives me so much joy and happiness.

we haven't really commented but we love seeing your dragon feels posts these days! your thoughts and writing style are delightful
we're not sure yet whether dragon applies to us, but we def have some fire elemental / internal-furnace forge-being stuff going on, so the lighting of one's fire is especially vibes
def know what it's like to yearn for a sense of belonging. sometimes we're still not sure what it would take to start feeling it. but even if it doesn't directly stop that feeling, it's good to remember that more people appreciate you than you realize
