i truly do not know! i went a-hunting for some possible context (this took a while); there... isn't really any, at least not that provides any kind of explanation. this piece is cover art for a 1990 amiga game called SATAN in which you play as a shirtless sword-fight guy in the first part and a wizard in the second part (hence the transformation). you fight satans with magic spells, i guess?? every enemy is satan and some of them are carrying around wizards you can rescue? scrolls are involved in some capacity?
the gameplay clips i could find show some giant floating... discs? magic discs? with stars of david on them. my best guess is that it's being deployed as a general "magical/mysical-looking symbol" . or maybe someone thought the wizard who is fighting satan should be religious in some way?
a little bit about the game: https://gamesnostalgia.com/game/satan
this is the manual, which explains nothing lol. it makes some reference to "divinity" but the whole thing is so jumbled that i don't know what they mean. https://www.gamesdatabase.org/Media/SYSTEM/Microsoft_DOS/manual/Formated/Satan.pdf
that's so funny. wikipedia says hexagrams appear in various other religious contexts, so that adds some credence to it being used as a generic magical symbol. or maybe it was made by people with some very confused conceptions of jews.
I loved it in Fellowship when Aragorn turned his back to the Balrog and then Animorphed into Moses. Classic scene.
