...i don't know if this is my place to speak - coming from someone living in probably one of the most privileged countries in the world - but 100% hard agree. us Finns have a decent (good? great??) standard of living, good national healthcare, great public transit, comprehensive public education, proper regulation, low crime rates, most people seem to know to mind their own business, etc.
hell, we even have a proverb about that: "to be born in Finland is to win the lottery" - and it's right! but it shouldn't be that way! it should be the norm for everyone!!
(it's genuinely crazy just how detached from the rest of the world Finland feels like sometimes... and sure we may not have all the bells and whistles that some other countries have, but goddamn do the majority have enough in here)
Mhm. I live in a country where I was put through a horrible wringer of abuse because of a childhood autism diagnosis, denied hrt for most of a decade because of that diagnosis, where im stuck stapled to my parents financially because we essentially have no social welfare, where I'm choking on pollition and public transport barely exists, and where I'm afraid to leave the house presenting femme even tho I live in one of the posh parts of manila because it's very likely that even here I'll get haraunged by security guards
Oh and I can't get actual ADHD meds that work nothing except fucking Ritalin and Stratera is approved by the government here
I like to joke that I'm immune to being Sent To Brazil because Brazil would be an improvement
