i get where all the current orientalism and cultural appropriation discourse is coming from but as always I urge ya to... be careful where you point those accusations. The way the topics are discussed in my country has contributed to me feeling unable to claim part of my own background as a mixed Spanish-Filipino.

Just... be, careful, about who you decide is "orientalizing" or "appropriating". You don't always know someone's cultural background or history from their appearance alone.

Idk... a lot of it makes a fear rise in my chest. Old fears from old, bad experiences. I just ask you to have caution, lest you err into trying to keep culture "pure" and "original" in ways that turn hurtful.
