cerula thought: im thinking that 0583-0585 might be some of the darkest years of the war for the Alliance. the Confederation mounts a mostly-successful offensive on Elbere, with the fall of Harjedia and Sehan; i'm also thinking that by the end of 0583 shit starts breaking out in some of the Taranasi states other than the Federation, opening a third front, while the island hopping back and forth on the Great Sea turns to its most brutal quagmire phase yet.
Maybe the crux of it might be the Confies successfully mounting Doolittle Raid style operations on the Alliance heartlands (esp. Surint, Saculiji, Tsalyin) that starts shaking shit internally and risking fragmentation or even whispers of surrender among the Alliance.
this is me ranting about my military scifi worldbuilding brainrot project silly.
i'll put it in world war 2 terms: its 1941-1942. a conquering authoritarian empire has made enormous military strides and shit is bad.
... but just like 1942, shit aint over yet.
