feels weird to have to say this but y'know I actually don't only use cohost to complain about cohost

it's just that I use it like I use other sites where I mostly want to have conversations with people and there's no way for someone coming to my profile to see the nice chats I have with people in the comments of their posts, and those conversations have to end prematurely because of the comment threading

but my point is you literally can't see me having these conversations about Not Cohost because of the way the site is, it's not like Bluesky or Fedi where you can hit the "with replies" tab or whatever

I've had some nice chats here even if they had to be short

Now seeing friends of the devs, and I mean literally Their Legitimate Friends, multiple times telling people even the smallest bit critical or even just Worried About/Negative About Its Chances of the site that they should just leave.

I dunno y'all if their main goal for sustainability is to grow the site, I don't think people will want to join a site where people go around telling people to leave over this stuff because "the devs are my friends" and I don't think you're doing your friends favors by doing this.

I gotta say I'm pretty skeptical about "we need to just get more users" as a plan when the H1 2023 update had the big section about burnout, the devs have talked before about how more users means they'd need more staff or they'd get totally burnt out, and I've had a ticket for blatantly rule-breaking content (not subjective just like a real black and white case) open and "being processed" for over two weeks.

There's one moderator for like 30k active users, and they already seem spread thin. Adding more users is going to mean someone else is going to have to start moderating or they're going to have to hire someone they flat out cannot afford. And THEY have said this in the past, but now it's their main plan.
