@teioh

my son asked me to help him with some computer stuff and he had his file explorer opened

me (reading a folder name out loud): "cirno is fucking pissed." what's that?

my son: a game i downloaded from itch.io

me: huh

me: is it good?

my son (nodding seriously like a sommelier judging a wine): it's decent

it is the year 2327 the way we interface with computers and the internet is nigh unrecognizable. a parent is helping their child debug an issue. they see a touhou game jam game. humanity has not fallen yet.

I don't have the energy to play a bunch of barely-even-works stuff to get to the few gems myself but I am so excited that kids these days have this in their gaming world, reminds me of the share- and freeware download ecosystem that was such a huge part of my gaming youth back on an earlier internet but even more creative and weird...

Came here to say I read the most recent one and then had to immediately read every other one. Amazing stuff. Wish my kids would say stuff like this instead of constantly infodumping about minecraft, haha

lmao tbf my son spent an hour during dinner talking non-stop about the state of counterstrike servers (tl;dr it's apparently pretty bad and he is upset about the proliferation of cheating bots)

if we can't handle them at their infodump about a special interest for hours, we don't deserve their devastation observation that prematurely ages us by years that they deliver in the most deadpan voice
