question for the floor: what's a weapon in dark souls 3 that you think is really fun to use but would never show up anywhere near the top of a pve tier list? thus far apparently I have somehow only found the least satisfying ones in the game and it's making me pretty unhappy with it. it doesn't have to be something that you would consider a "challenge run." but I wouldn't mind hearing about those either

Normal, sensible answer: Whips are sick as hell in 3. You can get the standard one real early and the animations and sound effects are some top tier castlevania nonsense. Not "high tier" in any sense but the gamefeel is good and whips are just cool.

Advanced Mode Answer: Two Handing a Shield

-Any dual weapon in DS3 is probably good.
-The Demon Great Axe or Demon Fist are both fun and easy to get early.
-Astora's Greatsword is so good it might be more than what you're asking for, but it's incredibly fun.

Seconding whips, the witch’s locks are maybe my favorite weapon in ds3 (altho thats really a late-game pyromancer’s weapon, which would mean a faith/int build to support it damage-wise; theres earlier and arguably more broadly useful and usable whips).
Fist weapons are also a fun departure from the usual movesets! extremely short range, but fun if you like punching a lot and well-supported by a dodge-heavy style. Nothing like OP damage-wise, but doable (if challenging) for beating the game with. Only thing is idk that id trust a fist weapon to get me thru all the dlc fights.

Farron Greatsword and Wolf Knight’s Greatsword are both good but not gamebreaking. Farron is more unique but I find the standard Greatsword moveset and unique weapon skill on the Wolf Knight a better Jack of all trades option. Both also have a hidden damage buff against Abyssal enemies that is helpful in several tough fights.

Ii would say just try out a bunch of movesets (not each weapon individually, just each category of weapon). Having said that, Whips seem really cool and unique. Scythes are always fun. Curved greatswords and hammers rule.
Also, the boss soul weapons (not sure if you've done that yet) all look Really cool but arent that great, so you could give one of those a go!
