The summation of "How to X" advice I've seen over the past two months seems to boil down to

  • You have to want to do the thing
  • You need to enjoy or learn to enjoy the process.
  • Going in because you Want The Finished Product is a way to burnout.

Seems like it's applied to things like music, art, game dev, getting good at a Fighting Game, and writing. If you don't like the Process of it, you're not going to get the Result you want.

It's really hard because even when I go into something thinking I'll be shit at first and not expecting a result, any time I achieve any kind of success an inability to maintain that level of success immediately becomes a crushing failure
