Struggling to put into words, I feel like Tamers and Ghost Game,, there's something about the way both shows handle the mentality of "kill or be killed." Or rather the way the shows handle the Digimon themselves in radically different ways, despite portraying them similarly.
Tamers was so clear about how destructive Digimon were. They're wild animals, they exist to fight, kill, absorb, and get stronger. Jian's whole arc with Terriermon was accepting that he couldn't be a pacifist, and that he couldn't get Terriermon to not fight because that's what Digimon are meant to do. Survival of the strongest reigns supreme in the Digital World, and as far as the show's concerned, that's just how it is. Putting down wild Digimon to stop them from causing chaos in the human wold is just something the protags do.
Ghost Game is different, though. While they're still portrayed as dangerous, destructive, horrifying, and often downright malevolent, with a handful of exceptions, it's only because they're experiencing a massive culture shock. They're not just animals, they're very much sapient, operating on different "blue-and-orange" morality. They were tossed into this world that they don't understand. They can be convinced to stand down and taught how to coexist with humanity and thrive in this new world. Strength and fighting isn't everything. They're just trying to get by, and with help, patience, support, and understanding, they can.
IG it's just a lot to do with Tamers vs. Partners. I think it might also have something to do with the unfortunate politics the writer for Tamers subscribed to. Trying to put it all together.
