beat hi fi rush! well i beat the main story, there's still those weird doors but regardless!!

i love the characters, i love 808 especially, i already impulse-bought the goofy looking plushie, pin, and the galaxy shirt from the game, and i think the story kinda sucks?

it wears anticapitalism like a costume but still ends with promoting the very system it condemned on the grounds that it's not actually the system that's flawed but just the people running it and if you replace the bad people with good people then everything is fine and great. and that sucks
but the characters are still good, i still love them. it's a very diverse and memorable cast, and i like that a lot! i think i liked macaron the most out of everyone that isn't 808. nice to have someone who's genuinely encouraging ;w;
i do wish we got to learn more about chai though. what happened to him? why is he like that?? what was his deal?

the gameplay is phenomenal tho. it's so unique, and theres so much depth to the combat that i havent even begun to touch, and the stage design is great!! moving around and exploring and doing 3d platforming to the music feels good
i like it!! i wish there were more games like this!!! this is good!!!
and the music is wonderful, as expected. obviously.

anyway the game is flawless and if anyone tries to argue then i will bite you and go awrwrarwrrarwrr

no bc i dont think that a story that goes out of its way to say "the true purpose of human resources is to defend the company at all costs while only giving the illusion of listening and caring" would also willingly end with "and now that the good capitalist is in charge again everyone can live happily ever after :)"

I definitly agree with all of this! ....aside from the fact the peppermint is the best after 808 since she gets an 808 kigu uwu

The anticapitalism thing too, it definitly feels like it wants to send that message and falls flat a bit, but also its kinda cathartic to beat the hell out of caricatures of personifications of its failings. Less serious message and more of a fun take on it =w=... as weird as that sounds to say

the chances of them actually being able to release the game if they actually went through with criticizing capitalism as a system would be like

I mean, to be fair, they had very little time to tell a story, and while anti-capitalism is the theme, Im not so sure its the message. there wasn't really enough time to promote a message, the game kinda just dropped out of the blue, and bethesda as a publisher really screwed over the studio that made it.

I for one just enjoy the game, and I actually think the story is less about capitalism, and more about growing as a person, because you suck at rythm when you start the game, and as you get better, you also see chai's confidence grow.

I don't know how to respond to this without being incredibly rude. I think this 11-hour long game dedicated to satirizing modern capitalism and the tech industry has things to say about them.

The characters in the story have their own personal journies and arcs, but that doesn't change the fact that the overarching plot they're involved in is about taking on an all-powerful megacorporation—every facet of it, from marketing to development to security—to stop it from taking over the world selling more product. The story still frames this conflict as a "big bad CEO running a once-good company into the ground." Roxanne taking over the company is presented as the clear solution, with no systemic changes necessary. Chai even ends up joining the company that had been trying to kill him the whole game once she's back in chage!

Whether intended or not, the message is clear: capitalism isn't a bad system, it's just a matter of bad people. Everything is fine so long as the Good Capitalist is in charge. As for what system produced and allowed those bad people, well, who's to say?

I think to ignore that entire facet of the game, or to even suggest that any story can lack a message altogether, kinda sucks

Regardless I think whether they were allowed to say what they might've wanted to say, given that this game was published by Bethesda, owned by Zenimax, which itself is owned by Microsoft, who is the tech industry, is a better question, but also a different story. It still doesn't change what's been presented.

I understand what you are trying to say, but I think that this kind of overcomplicates the message. You don't need a videogame to take itself too seriously. Part of the charm of hifi-rush is the fact that its self-aware, its doofy and fun.

Not every game has to have a message. Yes there is lore, and yes there are some undertones and gags to suggest their stance on the gaming industry and capitalism as a whole.

Its a game where you beat up robots with a guitar, and your character is the run-of-the-mill lazy protagonist. The beautiful thing is, that its totally okay to know what you are, and have fun with it.

You can criticize a system of government subtlely, and it sucks that they can't do it more on the nose, but thats not the point. Its not about capitalism, its not about some grand message, its a comic-book that is showing character progression of people who have had a rough start.

Trust me when I say, that I understand not enjoying an ending, it was a little boring, but also like, if you really want to criticize capitalism, understand that this studio was likely under crunch. And crunch is no joke.

I 100%ed the game, read all of the extra dialogue, played many hours and to be quite frank:

When you start a conversation with "this will probably sound rude", you should probably just not respond, or at the very least carefully think before you post an arguement to somebody who's just trying to stay positive.

Stop and think for like, two seconds. Capitalism is bad, everyone knows it, you don't need to make that the entire point of a rythm-action game. You only have so much dev time, and they did an amazing job. So stop nitpicking and enjoy what you got, a wonderful game, with a wonderful soundtrack, and wonderful mechanics polished to no end.

No ethical consumption under capitalism, including the game you just bought. So just praise it, money talks, but words have weight. Being a critic is fine, but being a nitpicky doesn't help anyone.
