hey folks that draw I could use some advice

my desk is just a little bit too high up for me to comfortably use my tablet on it. I thought about getting a stand but again desk is high so if tablet is on a stand hand would be resting, at minimum, around shoulder height, which is a little high up for me to comfortably hold my arm for long periods.

I can draw more comfortably if I have something around waist height to draw on but I don't have space or money for a drafting table or a taller chair and every stand i've looked at looks like it wouldn't fit stably in my lap so like

has anyone else dealt with this and found a good workaround?

if there really isn't a good solution to this and i just need to get a stand that sits on my desk then at least lemmie know, how do i solve the 'uncomfortable holding my hand above my waist' problem? what's worked for you?

Someone asked for a picture of my chair and here it is. The gas cylinder for the adjustable height on it is broken though so it only can stay at the minimum height while i'm sitting in it. From the seat to the floor is about 14 inches or 36cm, and the desk is 30 inches or 76cm high.

The main issue with replacing the gas cylinder is that I'm not very confident that replacing the gas cylinder will be a long-term solution, especially because I regularly used the height adjustment on my chair to go back and forth between high and low. If I replace the cylinder I have a feeling it's going to last a few months before I need to replace it again. A temporary solution may be better than no solution, but I am still having a hard time getting over the waste involved in this approach. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

I see. I understand the dilemma. Maybe there are certain types or brands that last longer these days. I would imagine that companies would have certain brands they trust so they're not always replacing them. If you're mechanically-inclined, maybe there's a way to insert one of the wider wooden dowels, from hardware stores, into the cylinder. The article I linked also suggests larger casters. Or perhaps the table should be cut down or replaced. In any event, I hope you can find a solution that lets you make art comfortably!
